Deusto ( also Deustu in Basque ) is a former Vicaya Elizate and a district in the northwest of Bilbao that was incorporated in 1925 . Today it is one of eight boroughs.

In the southwest, Deusto, separated by the Ría de Bilbao, borders on the Basurto-Zorroza district , in the southeast, also separated by the Ría and connected to the Puente de Deusto , on Abando and in the east on Uribarri .

The district, with 52,000 inhabitants, is administratively divided into the quarters Arangoiti , Ibarrekolanda , San Ignacio-Elorrieta and San Pedro de Deusto-La Ribera .
