Notre-Dame-de-la-Délivrance of Trois-Ilets is a in 1724 for the existing since 1683 parish of the former village Cul-de-Sac aux Vaches built and Our Lady consecrated parish church of the Roman Catholic Church . It stands on the main square of the small town in the French overseas region of Martinique, renamed Les Trois-Îlets in 1849 .

history

In 1761, the naval officer Joseph-Gaspard de Tascher and Rose-Claire des Verges de Sannois married in Notre-Dame-de-la-Délivrance. Three years later, the couple brought the parish's most famous baptized person to this church: their daughter Marie Josephe Rose de Tascher de la Pagerie, who was born on June 23, 1763 on her parents' sugar cane plantation La Pagerie, who was named Joséphine de Beauharnais under the name of her first husband should go down in history. The steps of a platform are in front of the very simple building . The middle part of the unadorned west facade shows a simple covered gable wall with a round arched portal in front of the main nave , which is accompanied by two smaller portals in front of the later added side sections. The roof turret, which appears enormous for the church, is placed directly behind the facade to accommodate the belfry and pierced on each side by twin round arches , has a high attachment crowned by a hexagonal helmet .

The wall structure of the two-storey main nave built over a crypt was changed in 1950 by adding the two side aisles.
