German-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The German-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (abbreviation: AHK Slovenia , Slovenian: Slovensko-nemška gospodarska zbornica ) based in Ljubljana is part of the network of German chambers of commerce abroad, which are present at 120 locations in 80 countries.

The AHK Slovenia was founded in October 2006 as the successor to the Association of German Merchants. On behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany , it represents the interests of German companies in bilateral economic relations with the aim of promoting foreign trade . One of the tasks of the chamber is to promote relations between business people and companies from Slovenia and Germany. It also represents the general interests of its member companies towards Slovenian politics, economy and society.

Members

The AHK Slovenia represents the interests of around 230 members (as of 2013) from various industries. Most strongly represented are providers of business services, companies from the automotive industry as well as IHKs, associations and institutions. Some members are organized in the various working groups of the AHK. In this context, there is regular exchange on the topics of energy, personnel and training as well as member development. Eleven members make up the board of the chamber, the chairman of which is the chamber's managing director, Gertrud Rantzen.

Services

Affiliated with the chamber is the marketing company DESLO doo, which is responsible for all services. DESLO doo offers information, advice and information services for German companies as well as for those on site as part of a globally standardized portfolio. These include the four core service groups market advice, legal advice, trade fairs and member service.

Events

In its function as a forum for bilateral business and politics, the AHK Slovenia organizes up to 40 events annually. At industry meetings or company visits, there is an exchange of experiences between the various business representatives. In addition, workshops, symposia and lectures on specific topics are offered on a regular basis. Events like the "German Ball", which has been held annually since 2010, offer an opportunity for networking. Finally, the AHK Slovenia regularly oversees delegation trips.

Industry sectors

The AHK Slovenia organizes meetings and symposia for various industries. In addition to representing the German agricultural and food industry and the German National Tourist Board, she is particularly involved in the fields of renewable energies and energy efficiency. The Chamber of Commerce Abroad regularly conducts business travel programs on this topic on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics.

Representations

The trade fair representations of Koelnmesse, Deutsche Messe AG and the cooperation exchange b2fair are organized under the umbrella of AHK Slovenia. The economic development agency of the Federal Republic of Germany, Germany Trade & Invest, has been represented by the AHK Slovenia in Ljubljana since 2008, the German agricultural and food industry since 2009. Since January 1, 2010, the German National Tourist Board has also been present in Slovenia through the AHK . The chamber also has a cooperation with VFW GmbH.
