Heinz Eberhard Strüning (born May 2, 1896 in Aplerbeck , † March 11, 1986 in Machern ) was a German painter , graphic artist and pastel artist .

Life

Strüning studied from 1922 to 1924 at the Dresden Art Academy and from 1925 to 1926 at the Kassel Art Academy . He had lived in Leipzig since 1927 and lived in Machern ( Saxony ) from 1937 until his death . From 1947 to 1951 he taught as a lecturer at the Leipzig University of Graphics and Book Art and since then has worked as a freelance maker. Among other things, he was the teacher of Gerhard Eichhorn . Strüning was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR . An increasing eye disease led to blindness in 1984. Strüning once said of himself: “I create from all things, because I am filled up to the top with what I want to create. There is only one law for me: Create to the last, that's what I live for. That is my artistic postulate, my inner law. "

The Leipzig University Custody published a catalog of his works in 1986. Many of them are in the possession of the university like the picture “Swans”, charcoal drawing over pastel colors. A work called “Trees” by Strüning has been hanging in the mayor's room of the Machern town hall since 1997. Another work is the “Dorfstraße in Machern”, pastel, created in 1950.
