Dietmar Eisold

Dietmar Eisold (born September 18, 1947 in Leipzig ; † May 26, 2017 in Berlin ) was a German journalist and art historian .

Life

Eisold completed vocational training as a bricklayer with a high school diploma until 1966 . He then studied art education and history .

From 1971 to 1991 Eisold was editor for the field of fine arts at the newspaper Neues Deutschland , the central organ of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). He was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR and on its board, where he appeared in 1988 as co-author of the central board's report.

After the political change he concentrated his activities as an author and editor on the lexicographical documentation of fine arts and artists of the GDR .
