German Bromeliad Society

The Deutsche Bromelien-Gesellschaft eV , abbreviated DBG, is a registered plant society that aims to cultivate, research and protect the bromeliad family (Bromeliaceae). The office is in Markkleeberg and the association was founded in 1970.

The DBG has 370 members, of which 37 institutions (as of November 2011), mainly from German-speaking countries, including private individuals as well as institutes and botanical gardens from all over the world. Among other things, it publishes the three-times-a-year publication Die Bromelie with content on bromeliads, some of which is of scientific interest, and hosts national conferences and assemblies.
