German CB radio organization

The German CB radio organization , DCBO for short , was an organization for CB radio operators in Germany. It was based in Mutterstadt in Rhineland-Palatinate . It was founded on February 13, 2005 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein and dissolved on December 31, 2016.

The organization claimed to represent the interests of German CB radio operators. At the express request of the founding members, it had the status of an interest group.

As a contact for free, unorganized CB radio operators, registered DCBO members should have the opportunity to pass on requests and suggestions directly to industry and the authorities. In July 2005, the DCBO hosted the first independent CB radio round table .

The DCBO represented the voting rights for Germany in the ECBF (European Citizen's Band Federation) through a cooperation with India-Fox-Germany. After the discontinuation of the CB exhibition at the Stuttgart Exhibition Center , interested CB friends had developed the Rheintal Electronica exhibition , which took place in Durmersheim in Central Baden on October 25, 2008 , as a cost-effective and centrally located alternative under the initiative of the German CB-Funk Organization . For this purpose, the idea of the “CB Lounge” was launched, which takes place once per calendar year - since 2011 without the participation of the DCBO. Until 2014, the DCBO organized an AM and SSB contest every year as well as a one-time FM contest and, in cooperation with other organizers, a so-called “point spark”.

Founding member and first chairman of the DCBO was Thomas Pfannebecker, who together with Thomas Karten, DCBO managing director and also a founding member, represented the German CB-Funk Organization in public. On June 18, 2010, Thomas Karten resigned from office for health reasons. Klaus-Dieter van Wasen was elected as the new full managing director in his absence. In the meantime, first Dieter Löchter and then Klaus-Dieter van Wasen had temporarily exercised the office. Klaus-Dieter van Wasen ended his work as DCBO managing director on May 4th 2013 at his own request. On May 4, 2013, Thomas Karten was re-elected managing director by the general assembly.

On February 28, 2016, the DCBO announced on its homepage and via numerous e-mails that it would cease its activities on December 31, 2016.
