German Horticultural Science Society

The German Horticultural Science Society e. V. (DGG) supports and represents applied and basic research in the field of horticulture. She is a member of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS) and a contact and advisor for political decision-making processes.

Together with the Federal Association of University Graduates / Engineers, Horticulture and Landscape Architecture (BHGL), the association organizes an annual conference. One of the company's goals is to promote young scientists. This is done, among other things, by awarding prizes ( Green Challenge , Grow Award , poster prizes, etc.).

The organ of publication is the European Journal of Horticultural Science and the DGG Proceedings , which can be viewed online on the DGG website.

The current president is Christian Ulrichs , Humboldt University Berlin , Faculty of Agriculture and Horticulture, Urban Ecophysiology.

Speakers for the various sections are: Wolf-Dietmar Wackwitz (training and advice), Gerlinde Michaelis (tree nursery), Jens Thomas (garden and landscape), Jana Zinkernagel (vegetable growing), Mirko Schuster (fruit growing), Walter Dirksmeyer (economics), Hartmut Balder (Phytomedicine), Traud Winkelmann (Plant Biotechnology), Manuela Zude (Technology) and Heiko Mibus-Schoppe (Ornamental Plant Cultivation).
