Christian Ulrichs

Christian Ulrichs (born January 26, 1968 in Dortmund ) is a German biologist. He is a professor at the Humboldt University of Berlin , since 2003 for the department of urban horticulture as part of a junior professorship , since 2009 for the department of urban ecophysiology of plants as a professor.

He studied biology at the Free University of Berlin and was a research assistant at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1995 to 1998 . There he received his doctorate as Dr. rer. agr., a second doctorate to become Dr. rer. nat. took place at the Technical University of Munich . From 1998 to 2001 he worked as a systems analyst in the area of ​​integrated pest management for the World Vegetable Center (AVRDC) in Taiwan. During this time he worked in the Philippines for a long time. From October 2001 he worked abroad at the US Department of Agriculture where he worked on climate models and pest prediction. He has been working at the Humboldt University in Berlin since 2003.

His research projects deal with food security in the national and international area and the ecophysiology of plants in urban areas.

Ulrichs has been on the board of the German Horticultural Science Society since 2004 and was president of the society from 2011 to 2013. He has also been a member of the Council of the International Society for Horticultural Sciences (ISHS) since 2011.
