The German Society for Gene Therapy eV (DG-GT) is an association based in Cologne .

The purpose of the association is the scientific exchange and the promotion of national and international specialist societies in gene therapy. The aim is to contribute to the translation of gene therapy approaches from experimental research to clinical application. In addition, the interaction between basic researchers and clinicians is to be strengthened, dialogue with the public is to be promoted and information is to be made available to schoolchildren and students. The association would like to contribute to the design of the regulations for gene therapy and the ethical discussion associated with it. President is Boris Fehse.

The association is a member of the Working Group of Scientific Medical Societies .

Publications and activities

The journal "Human Gene Therapy" is published by the association. The annual congress takes place annually.
