German organization for mosaic art

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Organization for Mosaic Art eV (DOMO) is a non-profit association that aims to preserve, promote and disseminate mosaic art . In addition, this should enter the public consciousness as an equal form of artistic expression.

The company was founded in March 2008 in Wiesbaden. This made up for in Germany what had already been done in several other countries: the formation of mosaic workers in an organization.

By mid-2017, the number of members had grown to over 160. During the founding phase, it became clear that people with different relationships to mosaic art came together in the DOMO. The DOMO offers space for well-known companies in the arts and crafts as well as for visual artists, for whom the mosaic is perhaps just one of their possible forms of expression. The members also include commercial distributors of mosaic materials, numerous providers of mosaic workshops and, finally, pure mosaic enthusiasts.

Symposia for Mosaic Art

The German Organization for Mosaic Art held the 1st Mosaic Symposium with the title “Mosaic - Realm of Colors and Light” in Linz on the Rhine from October 8-14, 2012 . It was the first event of its kind in Germany. The association worked closely with the city of Linz, which supports the project.

From August 10th to 20th, 2017, the 2nd mosaic symposium "The parts and the whole" of Domo eV took place in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm. In this context, the European exhibition "Fragment" advertised by Domo eV was opened.
