The German Schützenjugend (DSJ) is the youth organization of the German Schützenbund .

Structure and organization

The youth of all 20 member associations of the German Shooting Federation (DSB) and the employees in the youth sector make up the German Shooting Youth.

It has around 248,000 young people up to the age of 26 who are organized in around 15,000 associations.

The Deutsche Schützenjugend is managed and administered within the framework of the DSB's statutes .

The highest body is the youth delegate assembly, which is convened every two years. It elects the youth committee every four years and the four federal youth spokespersons every two years.

A youth day takes place every year. Other organs are the youth committee, with the youth leaders of the regional associations, and the youth board, which consists of seven elected members. These bodies work together for the benefit of all young people involved in shooting sports .

aims

Youth work in shooting sports is characterized by social and sporting diversity, participation, co-creation and responsibility, as well as fun and creativity.

The goals of the DSJ include:

  • contribute to the personal development of young people,
  • develop and stimulate the skills for social behavior,
  • Promotion of shooting sports for the disabled,
  • support socially disadvantaged young people,
  • Cooperation with schools,
  • Encourage young people who do sport to become involved in society and
  • to awaken in them the readiness for international understanding through encounters and competitions with other nations

These goals are anchored in the youth regulations of the DSJ.

At interdisciplinary levels, for example at the German Sports Youth, the Schützenjugend represents the interests of young people involved in shooting sports.

Sporting tasks of the DSJ

In the sporting field, the Schützenjugend has been securing the promotion of young talent since 1955 with numerous competitions at national level.

In the international arena, there is a lively exchange with young French and Polish shooters every year. In addition, the participation of the junior squad in international competitions and championships is guaranteed and every spring the German Shooting Federation organizes the world-famous junior IWK in Suhl.

The national junior trainers and their assistants train the relevant cadres and prepare them for competitions and the leap into the adult national team.

Participation of young people in the DSJ

With the help of various offices, the young people are actively involved in the work of the associations.

The youth spokesperson, for example, was created for a "peaceful" and successful collaboration between adults and young people. But he has even more tasks: On the one hand, the youth spokesman is the contact person between young people and adults and can therefore represent and enforce the interests, ideas, ideas, opinions or problems of young people vis-à-vis adults. On the other hand, his commitment helps him to develop himself further, because with every new action he gains experience that he can apply in all areas of life.

The federal youth spokespersons always work in a team of three people, one male and one female person must always be in this team. All three federal youth spokespersons are represented with a seat and vote on the youth committee in order to be able to present the interests of the young people directly. In addition to their opinion and voting rights in the youth board, they also implement projects specifically for young people and their youth speakers.

Course offers of the DSJ

The DSJ offers several basic and advanced training measures around sporting and interdisciplinary youth work.

For example the S license, which was specially developed for training with children under 12 years of age.

The recruiters of the S license, prospective trainers, get to know the growth-related peculiarities of their young people in courses, know what to look out for when handling heavy sports equipment, how the coordinative skills of the little ones are specifically trained and how the youngest playfully at shooting can be introduced.

It is also taught how to use shooting sports to promote the children's ability to concentrate and how to keep them happy and in shooting sports over a longer period of time.

social commitment

In addition to its role as a sporting youth organization, since 1998 the Deutsche Schützenjugend has also set itself the goal of helping socially disadvantaged children and young people.

True to the association's motto, "We are young and healthy and have the strength to help others" , the association uses this to collect donations for institutions worthy of support, among other things.
