history

On May 10, 1923, the German School in La Paz was initially founded as a secondary school, whereby the concept was already designed for students of both nationalities. At the beginning, sisters from the Christian School from Buenos Aires came to teach as teachers. In 1941 the company moved to a new building in Sopocachi on Calle Aspiazu. A kindergarten was added in 1963. In 1991 the school community moved to the new building in Achumani. In 2003, both the kindergarten and the primary school were expanded.

The school is named after Marshal Otto Philipp Braun , who was involved in the struggle for freedom in Bolivia and other South American countries under the command of General Simón Bolívar . He was the first Bolivian Minister of War.

Location and building

The school is located in the Zona Sur in the Achumani district and is attended by German and Bolivian students. In addition to the primary school and grammar school building, there is also a kindergarten and tournament-friendly sports facilities. The buildings are surrounded by a 20,000 square meter green campus. There is also a library, a canteen, nursing and psychological care. The director of the school since 2014 is Volker Stender-Mengel, who previously worked at the Eichendorffschule Kelkheim in Germany.

In order to obtain certification from the Federal Office of Administration - Central Office for Schools Abroad in 2009 , the school carries out specified measures based on a constant internal and external evaluation process (SEIS + = self-evaluation in schools ). In this way, the quality of education in the school should be improved and kept as high as possible.
