Self-evaluation in schools

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Self-evaluation in schools ( SEIS ) is a computer - aided self - evaluation tool for schools.

organization

SEIS is operated by the states of Lower Saxony , North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony-Anhalt as well as the Central Office for Schools Abroad (ZfA).

The above-mentioned countries and the ZfA provide the operation and support of SEIS. At the end of 2015, this will no longer be offered by the above parties. As a result, surveys using the seis instrument will no longer be possible from 2016.

instrument

The instrument was developed in the International Network of Innovative School Systems (INIS) of 40 schools in 7 states and 5 federal states with the support of experts from science and practice and with the help of a management consultancy. All groups involved in school life are surveyed with SEIS: students, teachers, school management, non-pedagogical employees, parents and trainers. The different groups answer the same or very similar questions. The questionnaires are structured in such a way that each of the 29 quality criteria defined by SEIS (e.g. 'learning and methodological skills') is implemented in five to ten items , which are designed differently depending on the survey group (e.g. addressed to the teachers : "In my lessons, my students learned to learn as part of a team or in small groups."). This means that the same section of school quality is assessed from the point of view of each of these respondent groups.

A survey can be carried out on the PC and with the help of paper questionnaires. The data is automatically evaluated and then made available to the school in a report. The report is provided with interpretation aids. Separate questionnaires have been prepared for each of the respondent groups: pupils, teachers, parents, trainers and employees. The questionnaires are translated into different languages. The survey results are the property of the school.
