history

As a German school abroad, the school has a tradition going back more than 130 years - lessons began on February 13, 1888. Since then, the DST has been part of Germany's foreign cultural and educational policy. In 1996 a new school building financed by the Federal Republic of Germany with extensive outdoor and sports facilities was opened in Pylea , near the motorway to Makedonia Airport.

The former

In 1959 the DST alumni association (SAGES) was founded.

The majority of the graduates studied in Germany and they thus make a significant contribution to strengthening the bond between the two countries.

One of the school's best-known graduates is the former President of the European Constitutional Court, Vasilios Skouris .

Mission statement

As an integrated school for encounters, the DST pursues the goal of leading the pupils to an optimal school leaving qualification through very good teaching, through an education based on openness, tolerance and performance as well as through targeted individual and social support. The encounter between the two cultures, their life concepts and traditions as well as between the people in their societies is the starting point and basis of all work.

structure

The school includes kindergarten, elementary school and secondary level I and secondary level II. Teaching is based on the curriculum of the state of Baden-Württemberg.

The DST is changing its structure from a departmental school with a German and a Greek department to a fully integrated meeting school in which everyone learns together and a joint school leaving certificate, the German International Abitur (DIA).
