The Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft ( DTHG ) is a professional association for event technology based in Bonn . Founded in 1907 as the Association of German Stage Engineers , it is one of the oldest professional associations in Germany according to its own statements. The DTHG sees itself as an amalgamation of both technical and artistic professional groups at theaters, in television and film productions, places of assembly or other event-related productions. The association has more than 1,600 members.

The official organ of the DTHG is the Bühnentechnische Rundschau , also published for the first time in 1907 , with the association journal Podium appearing as a supplement .

The DTHG organizes the stage technology conference ( BTT , 59th edition in 2018) and, in cooperation with Messe Berlin, the trade fair Stage | Set | Scenery in Berlin.

The DTHG is represented in the event technology, image and film standards committee of DIN and, as one of four supporting associations of the event industry interest group (igvw), is involved in the standardization of the igvw industry standards. The establishment of the degree courses for theater and event technology in 1987 at the Beuth Hochschule für Technik Berlin go back to an initiative of the DTHG and are supported by the DTHG to this day.

The association is the German center of OISTAT , the international organization of scenographers, theater technicians and theater architects ( International Organization of Scenographers, Theater Architects and Technicians ).
