The German Kendo Federation ( DKenB for short ) is the Federal German Sports Association for Kendo . It was founded in 1994 and is a member with special tasks in the German Judo Federation , a member of the European Kendo Federation and the International Kendo Federation . He is not a direct member of the German Olympic Sports Confederation ; the accession - and the simultaneous complete solution from the DJB - is aimed at according to the statutes.
history
The history of the DKenB goes back to the Kendo section of the German Judo Federation, which was founded in December 1970. In this predecessor organization, international matches have been held since 1972, world championships since 1976 and European championships since 1977. In 1981 the then DJB Kendo section in Berlin hosted the first European championship in Germany. The German Kendobund in its current form came into being in 1994 after the section was dissolved.
