German Psoriasis Association

The German Psoriasis Bund e. V. (DPB) is a patient self-help organization for people with psoriasis (psoriasis / psoriatic arthritis).

Foundation and goal setting

The association was founded in 1973 and is based in Hamburg. The aim is to make the medical care of people with psoriasis to improve (psoriasis), solidarity in a health insurance company to get to educate the public about the disease, to promote research into the causes and treatments of psoriasis to collect all the information and to mediate and to promote national and international cooperation with other self-help organizations. In addition, the DBP is politically and socially committed to reducing personal contributions by people affected by psoriasis with regard to materials and products for everyday self-care, such as creams, ointments and shampoos, as well as co-payments for prescribed products. The association currently has 6,000 members.

In addition to the association magazine PSO Magazin, the DPB publishes on psoriasis and its current therapeutic options. In information sheets and brochures as well as in the context of workshops, seminars and other events, the DPB addresses those affected with quality-assured information.

The honorary board consists of Joachim Koza (chairman), Joachim Klaus (deputy chairman), Helene Ball, Manfred Greis and Hans-Detlev Kunz. The managing director is Marius Grosser. In addition to the board and regional working groups, the DPB is represented nationwide by the regional groups to which the members can turn on site. There are also contact groups and contact persons.

The regional groups are teams of voluntary active members. They represent the interests of the members on site and serve as contact persons. They organize meetings and get-togethers, lectures and information trips. These regional contact groups serve the exchange between the members. The regional group leaders receive regular scientific training and pass on their level of knowledge to the members. The regional groups are in close contact with regional working groups and the office in Hamburg, which coordinate the association's activities on a national and international level.

Cooperations

The association cooperates with the most important professional associations of dermatologists, the professional association of German dermatologists (BVDD) and the German Dermatological Society (DDG). The German Psoriasis Bund e. V. through a scientific advisory board consisting of dermatologists, rheumatologists and psychologists, who can also answer questions from individual members.
