description

The main goal of the association is to promote "all efforts to breed the dachshund with a perfectly shaped body, to preserve its original character, to preserve and promote its hunting abilities" (statute). Dog dealers and commercially interested parties will not be accepted or excluded.

The DTK has around 20,000 members in around 300 local groups and sections that belong to 18 regional associations. The head office is in Duisburg . The bodies offer puppy placement, advice, training for companion and hunting dogs , shows and exhibitions . The association is, among other things, a member of the Jagdgebrauchshundverband (JGHV) and the Association for the German Canine Industry (VDH).
