from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Association of the Toy Industry e. V. (DVSI), founded in April 1991, represents around 230 companies in the German toy industry. The head office has been in Nuremberg since January 2015 .

history

The Württemberg-Badische Spielwarenindustrie Verband was established in 1919 with founding members Margarete Steiff , Märklin & Cie. as well as Kindler and Briel (Kibri). After it was broken up by the National Socialists , it was re-established in 1950 as the Spiel und Hobby Baden-Württemberg Industry Association .

After the First World War, the specialist group for toys and Christmas tree decorations already existed in the metal goods business group in Berlin; in Nuremberg there was a specialist group for this purpose under the management of Kommerzienrat Schwarz from the Bing company , at that time the largest toy factory in the world.

After the Second World War, Johann Distler (Nuremberg) took over the chairmanship. In 1970 there were initial efforts to found a nationwide organization called the Association of the German Toy Industry ; this should be open to all regional associations of the German toy, hobby, Christmas tree decorations and carnival and festive articles industries. In 1974 it was entered in the register of associations with the founding members of the interest group of northwest German toy manufacturers IG , the Association of Bavarian Toy and Christmas Tree Decoration Manufacturers. V. in Nuremberg and the industry association Hobby and Play Stuttgart.

The development of economic conditions in the world in the following years required the toy industry to be represented by a single association, and so in 1991 the German Association of the Toy Industry e. V. (DVSI) under the direction of the managing director of the individual associations, Volker Schmid, based in Nuremberg, was founded as the successor to the Association of the German Toy Industry, the Association of the North and West German Toy Industry and the Industry Association of Games and Hobby Baden-Württemberg. The choice of name makes it clear that it is also possible to include companies that are based in Germany but import their goods from other countries. Foreign manufacturers are now also members of the DVSI.

The DVSI currently effectively represents the interests of around 230 companies in the German toy industry vis-à-vis politics, authorities, other areas of business, science, society and the media.
