German wake-up call and observer was a National Socialist weekly newspaper for the population of German descent in the USA .

history

The newspaper was founded in 1934 as the mouthpiece of the German American Bund and the German Consumer Association. The first edition appeared in New York in July 1935, the last on December 11, 1941. Editions of the newspaper were published in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago and San Francisco. The newspaper was printed by Graf and Breuninger in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Philadelphia edition was titled Philadelphia Wake Up Call and Observer . From the December 14, 1939 issue, the title of the newspaper was The Free American and Deutscher Weckruf und Beobachter .

The circulation in 1937 was around 20,000 copies. The articles were written in German and English.

In 1937 was Walter cap editorial responsibility for the entire contents. Ad management was carried out by Alex Guessefeld.
