The German Bee Journal is a national German-language specialist magazine for beekeepers with an editorial office in Berlin . The editor-in-chief is Silke Beckedorf. The magazine has been published by Deutscher Bauernverlag since January 1993 and appears monthly. The print run is 22,940 copies, the actual spread is 23,536 copies (4th quarter 2017).

The magazine is mainly read by beekeepers in Germany and other German-speaking countries. It is aimed at newcomers to beekeeping as well as professional beekeepers and scientists. In terms of content, the German Bee Journal provides information on beekeeping topics from practice, biology, the environment, science and agricultural policy. The articles include contributions from practitioners and scientists as well as reports from the editorial team. Among other things, current topics such as the use of neonicotinoids or glyphosate in agriculture are critically treated. In addition, in cooperation with the beekeepers concerned, the magazine has been the lead researcher in the last major scandals about adulterated beeswax and made them public.

Association body

The German Bee Journal is the organ of the regional beekeeping associations in Berlin, Brandenburg, Hamburg, Hanover, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, Weser-Ems, Westphalia-Lippe as well as the German professional and professional beekeeping association and the Society of Friends of the Lower Saxony State Institute for Apiculture in Celle. Notices from these associations are published in the association section of the journal.

The magazine emerged from the magazines "Neue Bienen-Zeitung", "Deutsches Imker-Journal", "Leipziger Bienenzeitung" and "Deutsche Beekeeperzeitung" as well as "Garden and Small Animal Breeding, Edition C".
