The magazine Deutsches Kunstblatt was founded in 1850 by Friedrich Eggers . It saw itself as a "newspaper for fine arts and architecture" and organ of the German art associations.
The magazine was first published by Rudolph and Theodor Oswald Weigel in Leipzig, from 1854 by Heinrich Schindler in Berlin and in 1858 by Ebner and Seubert in Stuttgart.
The magazine had the following employees:
- Kugler in Berlin
- Passavant in Frankfurt
- Scales in Berlin
- Wiegmann in Düsseldorf
- Schnaase in Berlin
- Schulz in Dresden (only until December 1851)
- Forester in Munich
- Eitelberger v. Edelberg in Vienna
From 1854 Eggers published the literary sheet as a supplement to the art sheet. The last year (1858) of the literary sheet was edited by Paul Heyse .
