Georg Ebner (born August 11, 1784 in Ludwigsburg , † April 17, 1863 in Stuttgart ) was a German publisher.

Life

Georg Christoph Albrecht Ebner was a son of Johann Friedrich Ebner and heir to his father's art dealership. He completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller in the Stettin bookstore in Ulm and in the Ritter bookstore in Dresden , before he started his father's company in 1813 as "G. Ebnersche Kunsthandlung ”took over. He mainly published illustrated books, including memories or interesting views of Württemberg , the Bodensee album , studies of horses of various races and origins and the refinement of horse breeding on Als . The early travel souvenirs that Ebner brought into circulation, such as memories of Berg and its surroundings , memories of Cannstatt and its surroundings, etc., as well as maps , were apparently also sold well. Finally he founded his own lithographic institute; this was set up next to the company that Georg Ebner's brother Karl August ran. Eberhard Emminger was trained by Ebner from 1822, Jakob Ferdinand Schreiber from 1828 to 1831. After buying the music shop Franz Müller, Georg Ebner called his business “G. Ebner's art and music store ”. In 1833 Ebner was one of the founders of the Allgemeine Rentenanstalt in Stuttgart, the first German pension insurance company.

Georg Ebner's marriage to Wilhelmine Kurz (1789–1865) in Derendingen in 1813 resulted in twelve children. Shortly before the golden wedding anniversary , he died during construction work in his house: he stepped on a loose board and fell two floors, whereupon he lost consciousness and died four hours later. He was buried in the Hoppenlauf cemetery , the celebration was chaired by Prelate von Kapff . The neo-Gothic monument on the Ebner family grave has been preserved.
