The aim of the project, which is initially planned for one to three years, is to increase general knowledge of Germany in the long term by introducing or strengthening the regional studies component of German lessons in Turkish schools and universities. In addition to working with students and German teachers, cultural events and information events organized from the meeting point should convey a realistic image of Germany to the general population.

The centers are overseen by coordinators sent from Germany and sponsored by the Robert Bosch Foundation. Their tasks are

  • the implementation of seminars on regional studies and intercultural learning in the departments for German teacher training at universities.
  • the ongoing support of German teachers from the city and region and their regular training in seminars, workshops and consultations.
  • the implementation of cultural events at the university, in the city and in the region. With projects such as concerts, exhibitions, seminars and film screenings, they offer young people in particular the opportunity to get to know Germany better.

Up-to-date, multi-media media related to Germany are also available at the Germany meeting points to provide information. There is u. a. from multimedia exercise and teaching materials for learning the German language and a collection "German as a foreign language" with a focus on regional studies, from information and literature on topics such as society, politics, law, economics, ecology, art, music, film, theater and history of the 20th century, contemporary German-language fiction and drama, and audio-visual media (videos / DVDs, CDs of spoken literature and / or rock, pop, jazz).

In Edirne, the Sprachakademie Aachen took over the local commitment with an education and knowledge transfer program from 2011 to October 2014.
