The Dextans is a bronze coin that was minted during the Roman Republic .

The dextans did not play a major role in Roman coinage. Its value is 10 Unciae . This value is made up of the four value balls that can be seen on the lapel (each value ball stands for one uncia) and the "S" symbol, which can also be found on the semis . The "S" stands for half an ace , ie for 6 unciae.

In total, only four types of Dextans have been found so far, all around the year 210 BC. Were minted. After that the minting of this nominal was stopped.

On the obverse of all types a head of Ceres looking to the right can be seen, on the lapel the goddess Victoria can be seen in a quadriga moving to the right , above is the mint master's mark , below “Roma” and the stamps.
