Di Tsait

Di Tsait (Yiddish די צײט) was a Yiddish weekly newspaper from 1913 to 1914. It appeared in St. Petersburg .

history

Di Tsait first appeared on December 20, 1912 ( old calendar = January 2, 1913 new calendar). It was the organ of the General Jewish Workers' Union (Bund) . However, the editorial team was based in Vienna . The magazine was the successor to the Folkstsaitung , which was published in Warsaw until 1907 . St. Petersburg was chosen as the place of publication because the censorship there was not as strict as in Warsaw.

The last edition appeared on June 5, 1914.

Our successor was Unser Tsait , which appeared for the first time from June 24th to July 17th, 1914, then returned to Warsaw in the 1920s.
