Dia da Restauração da Independência

The Dia da Restauração da Independência is a Portuguese holiday . It is celebrated on December 1st every year .

It commemorates the end of the personal union of Portugal with Spain and the restoration of an independent Portugal on December 1, 1640. On the decision of the government of Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho , the holiday was suspended from 2013; At the beginning of 2016, the successor government was reinstated.
