The Diabetes Center Mergentheim is a treatment center for people with diabetes mellitus in Bad Mergentheim . The center includes the Diabetes Clinic, Diabetes Academy, FIDAM, Diabetes Practice, ConDiaZ, InsulinJA e. V. and iDiaZ GmbH.

On January 1, 1983, the Diabetes Clinic Bad Mergentheim was founded under private sponsorship.

Diabetes clinic

As an acute hospital, the diabetes clinic ensures the contract of the state of Baden-Württemberg to provide inpatient care for people with diabetes mellitus . All 155 beds are included in the state hospital plan. The specialist hospital treats around 4,000 people with diabetes mellitus every year (2017: 4,112 inpatients) who require inpatient treatment, provided that the outpatient therapy attempts have been exhausted. This includes patients with a complicated diabetic foot syndrome and complex accompanying and secondary diseases. Another focus is the treatment of motivation and acceptance disorders as well as the treatment of diabetes in connection with psychosocial stress. The therapeutic offer is supplemented with insulin pump therapy . Around 400 children and adolescents with diabetes mellitus are treated every year. In all disease management programs , the diabetes clinic represents the third level of care after primary care and specialist medical care.

Diabetes Academy

The Diabetes Academy Bad Mergentheim e. V. is a non-profit association for diabetes in science, advanced training (doctors and other professional groups) and patient information. It has 1940 members (as of 2017). Every year around 3,500 people receive further training at the academy and around 40 information events are held. Further events are carried out nationwide by the academy's teachers. In cooperation with the Diabetes Society (DDG) , the Diabetes Academy Bad Mergentheim is a recognized training center for diabetes advisors according to the guidelines of the DDG and a training center for podiatrists DDG. In cooperation with the diabetes clinic, doctors can receive further training as diabetologists according to the guidelines of the DDG or psychologists can acquire the additional qualification of specialist psychologist DDG.

FIDAM GmbH

FIDAM GmbH - Research Institute Diabetes - was founded in November 2006. The main focus of her business activity is the implementation of clinical studies as well as research and advice in the field of diabetes treatment. The company focuses on the development and review of modern training and treatment programs for people with diabetes, advanced training for training staff, the evaluation of new technologies and the recording of patient reported outcomes .

InsulinYES e. V.

InsulinYES e. V. is a non-profit association for young people with diabetes mellitus. The purpose of the association is the direct support of young people with diabetes mellitus and other chronic diseases as well as their relatives and other affected persons. Donations support measures that enable optimal diabetes care for children and young people.

iDiaZ GmbH

IDiaZ GmbH is an IT service provider for the healthcare sector and was founded in December 2016.
