action

Elisabeth Jensen is completely satisfied with her life. She is happy with her Alex, who asks her at the wedding of mutual friends if they would like to move in together and she is sure that only Alex and no one else can put on her wedding ring.

The only downer in her life are the mothers of the first child contact group that she leads. Since she has no child herself, the mothers refuse her and think everything she suggests is pretty stupid. In the weekly "Blitzlicht", the mothers take turns reporting on the experiences of the week and only find superlatives. Without exception, your children are good and sleep through the night. Some mothers address their children by Mr or Mrs and the surname and even lapse into the polite form. They accuse Elisabeth of not taking the children seriously and of constantly underestimating them to hinder their personal development. The mothers of the second group are a welcome antipole. In the weekly “Blitzlicht” they openly admit their difficulties and meet Elisabeth in a friendly manner.

She has a very warm relationship with her colleague and friend Hanna. Hanna's relationship is not very fulfilling and she constantly suspects that her boyfriend Heiko is cheating on her. Hanna sets up the theory that all men cheat on their wives and that Elisabeth will also notice this as soon as her hormones no longer oscillate perfectly in harmony with Alex's.

Elisabeth has inherited a building plot of 2000 m² with a wonderful view, and she and Alex want to build a dream house there and grow old together. Before that, they live harmoniously together in a one-room apartment. And although friends and acquaintances have warned that living together in such a small space can never go well, they get along wonderfully. The financing should also be in place in spring and house construction can begin.

When she calls her Alex once in the office, an intern answers the phone. Her colleague Hanna immediately makes her suspicious and warns Elisabeth. When she asks Alex about it in the evening, he pretends not to know exactly what she looks like and Elisabeth is very reassured.

When his friend Björn unexpectedly comes to visit one Sunday evening without being asked, Elisabeth reacts angrily and leaves the apartment in an argument. Alex looks for her everywhere and calls her friends. In the end they make up and he asks if she wants to marry him. Elisabeth enthusiastically agrees.

The first thing to know is her friend Hanna, who is happy for her. Boyfriend Björn calls to congratulate him and lets him know that Alex actually prefers blondes, but that he is satisfied with a brunette with such an amazing property. Elisabeth hangs up offended and crosses Björn off the guest list.

Even her cousin from the Palatinate, who lives with a stingy tax advisor, calls to congratulate. She tells her that the news gave her Bruno the idea to get married. For a long time Susanne was Elisabeth's great role model with colored hair, piercings, freaky clothes and as the official black sheep and negative example of the family. When the family refuses to support her and their flat share is dissolved, she moves in with Bruno and adapts to his way of life.

Elisabeth and Alex's parents are happy for them both. Alex's mother points out that the wish for a small wedding in Elisabeth's mother's winter garden is an illusion and that many relatives will make claims to be invited to the wedding. Alex's father also wants to have a say in the wedding preparations and speaks out against the desired date in May. Alex leaves it to Elisabeth to lead the discussion and justifies it by saying that he will always feel like a little boy towards his father.

In the meantime Hanna has spent a terrible weekend. She shadowed her boyfriend and found that her uneasy feeling is justified. He has another wife. As she drives home disappointed, she decides to end the relationship herself and tell him that she has met another man. The project is thwarted by the fact that Heiko stands in front of her door on Sunday and confesses everything. She asks about Elisabeth's weekend and she tells her that she may be pregnant. On the same day, she even wins recognition from the 1st group of mothers and now actually believes that she is pregnant because the unpleasant women no longer trigger aggression in her. Hanna offers to get her a pregnancy test while she takes care of the 2nd group of mothers, but Elisabeth notices the arrival of her period. When she calls Alex, who is on a construction site in another city, the intern Tanja answers the phone again. Alex tells her affectionately that he tells Tanja about her the whole time and that he misses her very much.

The next day a strange visitor appears in the office who wants to see Ms. Jensen to register for a mother and child course. She tells Elisabeth that her child has not yet been born and should be named Alexander after his father. She then offends Elisabeth by telling her Elisabeth is an old-fashioned name and would suit a woman with broad hips and straggly hair. Hanna is immediately very suspicious, but Elisabeth rejects all objections.

After a perfect Christmas together, Alex is hardly home from the New Year. He has to work outside on a construction site and often stays away over the weekends. Elisabeth remains alone with the building project and the wedding preparations. She receives unexpected help from Hilde, Alex's mother. Hilde even blackmails Alex's father to finance the wedding by threatening to tell the tennis club that he is too stingy. The neighbor and fortune teller Kassandra meets Hilde and announces that this woman is not the ice-cold, calculating woman she saw in the cards.

When there were problems with the construction because of a not yet approved drainage shaft, Elisabeth had to take care of that on her own. She calls the local government and receives help from an officer who sends her to the county building department and promises to call there and introduce herself with "Bond, James Bond" when asked for his name. At the district building authority, Elisabeth receives approval before envious neighbors can lodge a complaint. On the way back she gives the nice officer a bottle of martini as a thank you and learns his name.

Three weeks before the wedding, Elisabeth still has no dress. Elisabeth is very sick with all the stress and she doesn't feel well. She drives Hanna to a shop with special evening dresses. She gets a discounted dress from the previous year's collection, which she finds fantastically beautiful and which is called "Champagne after a successful escape". Suddenly she has to throw up in the sales room. Hanna immediately takes her to the doctor and he tells her that she is pregnant.

Elisabeth wants to deliver the news to her Alex personally and takes the train to see him. She persuades the doorman to let her into Alex's room, pointing out that she is his fiancée and wants to surprise him. She hides in the bathroom and waits for him. Just as she is about to lean seductively into the door frame, there is a knock on the other door. Alex opens the door and the strange woman stands in the door in a bathrobe. It turns out that it is Tanja, the intern.

While Alex and Tanja are busy with each other, Elisabeth sneaks out of the hotel room and lets herself be driven to the train station. The only train that still runs during the night goes to Speyer. Her cousin lives nearby. Susanna takes her in for one night and comforts her. Bruno gives her advice on how to deal with the house that is not yet finished.

The next day, Hanna picks her up from the train station and makes her the suggestion that they can finish building and living in the house together. Elisabeth decides not to tell Alex until the last minute that the wedding will not work out. Her favorite fantasy is about giving him the basket in front of the altar and knocking the bridal bouquet around his ears. The only obstacle is the fact that the church wedding can only take place after the civil ceremony and Elisabeth would then be married to Alex. Hanna comes up with a saving idea.

On the wedding day, Alex is overwhelmed by his beautiful bride. The weather is perfect and it could be the perfect day. Elisabeth gives Alex a basket in front of the altar and has a special surprise in store for him. She decides not to rename the dress under any circumstances.
