The Frog Queen ( Russian Царевна-лягушка ) is a folk tale from Russia .

In the fairy tale, the tsar's son, unlike his two brothers, does not find a wife, but has to marry a frog. However, this is the enchanted virgin Wasilisa , who is superior to the wives of the brothers in every respect and proves this in several tests and thus overcomes the ridicule of the others. The prince loses Wasilisa through a careless mistake, but can disenchant her and win her back through his bravery. In addition to Wasilisa, other characters from Russian mythology play in the fairy tale, such as the witch Baba Jaga .
