The Divine Seeker is a novel by Peter Prange about the historical figure of Gracia Nasi . He deals with the history of the Inquisition in the Renaissance , especially with its role in the forced baptism of Jews and their persecution.

The action begins in Lisbon in 1528: Gracia is a devout Jew, but has to live like a Christian for fear of the Inquisition. The man she is married to seems to be unscrupulously profiting from the misery of his Jewish fellow believers, Gracia despises him. But when she realizes his true character, the alleged traitor becomes the great love of her life. She sins to save him. Gracia has to flee across Europe with her daughter. Her goal is a place where she can freely practice her faith. In return, she risks her life and the happiness of the people she loves, but also defies kings and popes.
