The Haftpflichtkasse (formerly Haftpflichtkasse Darmstadt ) is a German property and casualty insurer based in Roßdorf near Darmstadt . With over 380 employees, the mutual insurance association looks after a premium volume of over 200 million euros.

history

The forerunner of the liability insurance company were two mutual insurance associations founded independently in 1898: the liability insurance of the Saxon innkeepers association based in Leipzig and the liability insurance company of German innkeepers VVaG based in Darmstadt. Both insurers merged in 1930 to form the liability fund Deutscher Gastwirte VVaG , based in Leipzig. After 1945 the insurer relocated its headquarters to Darmstadt.

Further name changes followed in 1968 ( liability insurance of the German hotel and restaurant trade - liability insurance - VVaG ) and 1993 ( liability insurance of the German hotel and restaurant trade - liability insurance company Darmstadt - VVaG ). From 1999 to 2017, the company appeared on the market as liability insurance company Darmstadt . Since July 2017 the new company name has been Die Haftpflichtkasse VVaG .

The relocation of the company headquarters and the move into a new administrative building in Roßdorf (1993) as well as the opening of the insurer to private liability customers (1995) mark a decisive development step in the history of liability insurance: from a purely specialist insurer in the German catering and hotel industry to one that followed Insurance companies with an ever broader base with the lines of liability, accident (since 2000) and household effects (since 2006).

The rapid increase in the number of customers and employees in 2003 and 2007 was taken into account by the expansion of the Roßdorf corporate headquarters by two additional construction phases. A fourth part of the building, which according to the company creates space for 300 additional employees, was moved into in summer 2017. In a test in 2011, liability insurance was described as a financially stable insurance.
