The sea princesses (original title: Sea Princesses) is an Australian cartoon series that was produced between 2008 and 2010 . It is based on the books "Princesas do Mar" by the Brazilian author Fabio Yabu .

At the bottom of the Seven Seas lies the mysterious place Salacia, which is hardly known to anyone. Here sea princesses live in their respective palaces in many different kingdoms. Let them learn something new every day so that one day they can rule over their kingdoms. These include the adventurous starfish princess Ester, the conscientious octopus princess Polvina and the spirited shark princess Tubarina. They are best friends and go on many different adventures together every day. However, they must also learn on their way to grow up, learn to get along with other princes and princesses, meet the expectations of parents and residents and meet the everyday and school challenges. The parents of the princesses and princes can only be seen in a few episodes. The friends' contacts and comforters are also their pets, starfish, squid Tinti and the shark fin. The princesses and princes are taught by the nice but also strict Miss Meerschaum. The residents of Salacia are allowed to enter the mainland, but they are forbidden from contact with people unless they are disguised.

The series was produced in Australia between 2008 and 2010. Directed by Craig Handley and written by Kevin Nemeth. Neptuno Films, Southern Star Entertainment and Flamma Films were responsible for production. This resulted in 4 seasons with 104 episodes. The German first broadcast took place on February 22, 2008 at KIKA .
