The source, came

The source is a well in Kamen , which was created according to designs by the Kamen artist and goldsmith Gregor A. Telgmann . Inaugurated on June 25, 1993 together with 3,000 citizens, it is now the center of the traffic-calmed and renovated market square .

It consists of a granite column set with panes and an ensemble of six bronze groups of objects on a circular floor plan, which represent six cultural dimensions of the city of Kamen: the original source, technology, art, science, handicrafts, as well as sport and play. The production costs of this fountain system amounted to around 1,000,000 DM. Some figures are movable and invite you to touch. Telgmann was inspired by the novel "The Source" by James A. Michener .

At night, lights let the water and the figures shine. Every year at the end of the summer holidays, the big fountain festival takes place on the market. In good weather, the fountain is a social meeting place.
