The Hour of Truth is a German television show that was produced in Potsdam from 1999 to 2003 . It was broadcast on Fridays from 8:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. on the private broadcaster Sat.1 . The presenter of this program was Christian Clerici . About a month before the end of production, the then PR editor Birgit Borchert moved the show to 6 p.m.

concept

One week before the broadcast, a family was visited by a camera team at their home. One of the family members, either mother or father, was given a mostly tricky task that had to be mastered this week before the show. These were, for example, thinking or sports tasks. The family was also given a camcorder to record the week in the form of a diary. The video was then shown at the beginning of each broadcast. This task then had to be skillfully presented in front of the audience on the show. Each of the family members was allowed to ask for an item before the broadcast; these were brought into the studio at the beginning of a broadcast. However, the family was only allowed to receive their gifts if the task was solved by the mother or father.

assessment

The website Gameshow Kult describes the show as a “moderately entertaining family show”, which “Clerici presented nicely, but not in an exciting way”. In the overall rating, the show received half of the points.
