The animals from the Talerwald was a weekly children's magazine based on the cartoon series When the animals left the forest and the book series for this film and tried to introduce children to topics related to nature and the environment. From 1994 to 1996 130 issues and two Christmas specials were published. The series was published in the UK as Farthing Wood Friends , both versions were published by Eaglemoss Publications .

Rubrics

  • Stories from the Talerwald : The stories in the cartoon series were retold using original images. The action of the third season, which had not yet been shown on television at the time, began with issue 67. Some figures were given different names in German in booklets and series ( Rasch instead of Flitzi , Laird instead of Lustig ). After these stories had also been told, there followed those that played in the Talerwald before the start of the series and were significantly more text-heavy.
  • Everything about ...: A specific species or genus was introduced. The introduction was made from the perspective of a specimen of the corresponding animal.
  • Draw times : A drawing template and instructions for the picture of a specific figure in the series.
  • Talerwald pin board : A double page with readers' drawings and stories (fan fiction), which first appeared in issue 19 instead of Draw times and from then on alternated with this section at irregular intervals. In the course of the series, drawing became increasingly rare.
  • Voyage of discovery : A double-sided picture in the middle of the booklet, each showing the animals and sometimes also plants of a certain habitat. More detailed explanations followed on the next page.
  • Open your eyes and join in! : Mainly handicraft instructions, each of which also tried to convey knowledge and insights into natural topics.
  • Did you know : A double page with unusual facts and records from nature, each with a specific main topic.
  • Weißhirschpark-Kurier : From issue 71 onwards, did you know that this newspaper-style double-page spread with "messages" from the animal world replaced it.
  • Puzzles + Games : Four pages with puzzles and instructions at the end of the booklet.
  • This is where it gets colorful : a coloring picture with motifs from the series on the back of the magazine.

Each booklet also had a specific supplement such as posters, stickers or handicraft sheets. The last two booklets no longer contained most of the categories mentioned, instead there was an index with references to all the animal and plant species described in the booklet.

annotation

In the booklet series - including its title - the spelling Talerwald was used consistently for the homeland of the animals , compared to Thalerwald in the television series and in the comic series When the animals left the forest published by Bastei Verlag .
