Hand study

A hand study is the graphical, anatomically correct recording and representation of the human hand .

A hand study itself is not a final work, but only the preparation for a specific part of the work. The hand in the artistic sense impressed the visual arts in a way that made it difficult to depict realistically and expressively. A hand can have at least as much, if not more, expressiveness than the facial expressions of the eyes and face.

A lot can be read or interpreted from a picture from the position of the hand and hand position .

Probably the best-known hand study is the drawing Praying Hands by Albrecht Dürer from the beginning of the 16th century.
