The timeless one

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The timeless is a polka française Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 302). The work was performed for the first time on October 1, 1865 in Pavlovsk , Russia.

Remarks

The polka was created in the summer of 1865 during the composer's trip to Russia. It was premiered in Pavlovsk under the name Reconnaisance Polka and was only given its current name in Vienna. The Viennese first heard the work on November 12, 1865 at a concert in the Volksgarten . The derivation of the title name is not known. Possibly Johann Strauss had a flower, more precisely the autumn crocus, in mind when he chose this name.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 4 minutes and 43 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
