The first cures

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The first Curen is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 261). The work was performed for the first time on January 28, 1862 in the Sofienbad Hall in Vienna.

Remarks

The waltz was composed for the medicine ball of 1862 and premiered there. It was dedicated to medical students at the University of Vienna. The reviews of the work were divided. In addition to some benevolent statements, there was also a lot of criticism. Apparently the composer did not have any notable success with this waltz. It was more of an average work. As a result, it disappeared again from the concert schedule. This was also due to the large number of Strauss compositions in those years, which displaced each other from the concert plans.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 7 minutes and 46 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
