The golden note was a Saturday evening show that had been broadcast on GDR television since the 1960s .

The title of the show came from the music prize of the same name, which has been awarded in the GDR since the late 1950s. This was sometimes referred to as the " Grammy of the GDR". The first program on GDR television broadcast The Golden Note during prime time in a 90-minute version, which was presented by the chief announcer Erika Radtke .

The golden note was considered a television concert series and showed u. a. Concert broadcasts from the Gewandhaus Leipzig , the Schauspielhaus am Gendarmenmarkt - but also chanson series with Brecht interpreter Gisela May . Due to the wide musical spectrum, the entertainment program was a popular part of the DFF . The golden note was discontinued in the late 1980s .
