The Diedenshausen , Schöne aus Diedenshausen or Diedenshausen apple is a variety of the cultivated apple ( Malus domestica ).
description
The Diedenshausen is a green apple with a diameter of more than six centimeters. It is an early autumn apple that is suitable as a table apple , but also for baking and as a sauce .
history
The origin of the variety lies in the village of the same name Diedenshausen near Bad Berleburg , North Rhine-Westphalia . This local variety was widespread until the 1950s, but then lost a lot of its importance.
The Diedenshausen is an endangered variety. Until 2015 only one old tree of the variety was known. A Diedenshausen high trunk has stood on a meadow at the local history museum in Diedenshausen since 2016.
