Diego Hurtado de Mendoza

Diego Hurtado de Mendoza y Guevara , 10th lord, 1st Vice-Conde of Corzana and first Conde de la Corzana (* 1590; † 1639 in Vitoria-Gasteiz ) was Ambassador of Philip IV of Spain to James I of England in 1624 .

Life

His parents were Juana de Guevara y Acuña and Diego Hurtado de Mendoza, 9th lord of la Corzana, who was captured during the naval battle of Djerba in 1560.

Diego Hurtado de Mendoza was Menino of Elisabeth de Bourbon .

In 1608 Diego Hurtado de Mendoza married María Ruiz de Vergara y Ruiz de Vergara (baptized on April 24, 1590 in Vitoria (San Pedro))

Diego Hurtado de Mendoza was appointed Corregidor of Toledo by Philip IV on March 5, 1621. In 1624, Diego Hurtado de Mendoza was Ambassador to the Court of St James’s . He was ambassador to France and Flanders.

From 1629 to 1634, Diego Hurtado de Mendoza was Alcalde of Seville .

On August 8, 1639, the Casa de Corzana was upgraded to a county. Diego Hurtado de Mendoza was a Knight of the Order of Santiago
