Seniority sign (Free City of Frankfurt)

The seniority mark of the Free City of Frankfurt was donated on December 15, 1840 by the Senate of the city for military personnel in initially three stages

  • for 25 years of service
  • for 15 years of service
  • for 10 years of service

On July 6, 1841, by resolution of the Senate, the foundation of a further stage took place, which was awarded for 50 years of service, which was intended exclusively for officers and was awarded only four times.

The medal mark is a cross, on the upper arm of the cross, the number of each step ( L , XXV , XV or X ), on the left, the word ANNUAL , on the lower SHAKER and on the right SERVICE stands. In the medallion of the cross, which is enclosed by an oak wreath , a crowned Frankfurt eagle looking to the right.

The award was worn on a 37 millimeter wide, red ribbon with white stripes on the medal buckle.
