Dietmar Schermann

Dietmar Schermann (born April 24, 1957 in Mödling ) is an Austrian composer .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1975, Schermann studied composition, répétiteur, choral conducting and orchestral conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . After completing these studies, he worked from October 1982 as a lecturer for composition and as a freelance composer and conductor. His works have been performed in Europe, Asia and South America. On March 1st, 1992 he was appointed full professor and head of a chair for harmony theory - counterpoint at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. After many years as deputy head of the institute, he took over the management of the Institute for Composition and Electroacoustics at the Vienna University of Music from 2006 to 2008.

Works

Schermann's works include music-dramatic works, other orchestral and vocal works, and chamber music.
