Dietrich von Mörner

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dietrich Mörner (around 1350) was a Brandenburg cleric.

Life

Dietrich Mörner was first mentioned in 1335 as a clergyman at the court of the Brandenburg Margrave Ludwig the Elder, but soon rose to the position of protonotary in the margravial chancellery. As a canon he belonged to the important and unrivaled collegiate monastery of Soldin , whose internal administration he was dean until 1351. In 1352 and 1353 he headed the monastery as provost, but received the provost in Bernau as early as 1353, which he held until 1366.

The Mörner family owes their rise within the Neumark nobility to him in particular . After his death, the death of his brother Otto and the transfer of the Mark to Emperor Charles IV, the Mörner lost their high position in the New Mark nobility, withdrew to their estates in the Oderbruch and since then have hardly appeared politically.
