The Dietrich street is a street in Trier . It connects the main market with Paulusplatz and is one of the six streets leading away from the main market. The eastern section of the street between the main market and the crossing Justizstraße / Walramsneustraße is part of the pedestrian zone.
The University of Trier was founded on Dietrichstrasse in the 15th century . The listed building is now home to social and labor courts . There are 18 other cultural monuments in the street , including the Red House , the Frankenturm and the former Poor Clare Monastery of St. Maria Magdalena. The Trier Toy Museum is also in the street .
The name of the street has been documented as platea Thirici since 1240 and is probably named after the possessions of a Trier lay judge through which it led.
