A differential pressure meter is a measuring system in which the difference between two pressures is output as a measured variable. This distinguishes it from the pressure gauge , which works against a defined counter pressure, such as a barometer .

Differential pressure meters are widely used, for example in aviation for pitot tubes or in industry for monitoring filter systems .
