Digia is a Finnish software company with over 1500 employees worldwide and headquartered in Helsinki . The company offers software for industry, public services, telecom and mobile communications. It is also a provider of IT- related consulting services . The company also became known through the acquisition of the commercial Qt business from Nokia in 2011. In August 2012, the Qt development department was fully taken over. The group operates locations in Finland, Sweden, Russia and China. With the Qt takeover, locations in Berlin and Oslo were added. The company's shares are traded on NASDAQ OMX Helsinki .

history

Digia was created on March 4, 2005 from a merger of SysOpen Plc, founded in 1990, and Digia Inc., founded in 1997. After further takeovers, the company changed its name in March 2007, first to SYSOPENDIGIA, and one year later to Digiaksi. On August 9, 2012, it was announced that Digia had acquired the entire Qt development department from Nokia, after taking over the commercial Qt business the year before.
