Digital commons

The digital commons is the part of the knowledge commons that is available in digital form . This also includes digitized copies of the cultural heritage, which is no longer subject to copyright. The term digital commons is synonymous with the term digital public domain , which, however, has a narrower, strictly defined meaning in US law.

The use of the digital commons can e.g. B. be restricted by copy protection and other technologies.
